The Lair of the Golden Bear

The Lair of the Golden Bear The Lair of the Golden Bear, established in 1949, is the UC Berkeley Alumni Association's summer family camp providing lodging, meals and loads of fun activities (hiking, softball, tennis, music, pottery and lanyard making, to name just a few) for adults and kids to enjoy throughout each camping week. Over 9000 people camp at the Lair during the camping season. About 140 outstanding staff members (mostly current UC students) see that the camp runs efficiently and that the campers enjoy themselves. The Lair consists of 3 camps--Blue, Gold and Oski- and covers 100 acres in the beautiful Stanislaus National Forest near Pinecrest, CA. The three camps are very similar, but each has it's own Lair "flavor." There are two fantastic weeks towards the end of the summer that are devoted entirely to adults, and we now have 5 Family Camp weekends from the end of August through the end of September that provide campers with a small taste of Lair camping.
